republic of everyone

Surry Hills based business Republic of Everyone describe themselves as 'sustainability strategists and communicators', so it's not surprising they went to great lengths to make their new office fitout as green as possible, calling specialist architects Dunn + Hillam Architects to help out.

The brief? Make it the sort of place people want to come to work in, with plenty of open space, and make it using as few new materials as possible.

The result is an open plan oasis of sustainable thinking with two breakout areas, board room constructed from reclaimed windows, valet visitor parking (if you arrive by bike), a shower with full supply kit if the bike makes you sweaty and plenty of natural light at every desk.

Desks are constructed from refashioned sideboards topped with sustainable plantation ply, the whole office is green powered, carbon measured, managed and offet. Recyling is by Visy (although Matt takes home the foodscraps after the Bokashi bin has done its work.)

And when lunch comes around? Take a trip across the road to Prince Alfred Park. The location  was chosen especially to encourage creative people to shoot some basketball or sit under a tree while considering ways to solve the worlds eco and social problems.
Hopefully one day all offices will be like this.
