The project brief was to convert a section of the former supermarket in the main street of Junee into a Solicitors office. After peeling away three existing ceilings, framing for two large roof lights was uncovered and reinstated allowing natural light to enter the main work spaces in the office and facilitate natural ventilation of the building. The building was customised in collaboration with the wheelchair bound client to exceed mandated standards of accessibility, while maintaining an atmosphere of sophisticated professionalism. His personal experience added greatly to our expertise in producing integrated buildings that are equally amenable to all.
Emphasis was placed on developing a healthy office environment that is a pleasant place to work. A new polished concrete slab with hydronic pipes is used to heat the building in winter. Evaporative coolers provide supplementary cooling on hot days but are generally run using a fan cycle only. Purpose built furniture is constructed from long lasting, sustainably sourced materials and all finishes have been chosen to keep off gassing to a minimum. All spaces have good natural light that is supplemented by energy efficient lighting when required.
